The cost of Argentina trips
Argentina offers experiences ranging from good value adventure trips to premium luxury journeys. Adventure trips of 12-13 nights typically range from USD 6,000 to 9,600 per person, while luxury experiences of similar duration command USD 12,000 to 14,400.
We are more than happy to work across this range of prices. The only important thing is that we help you find the very best way to experience Argentina within your budget.
The two dominant price factors are the specific properties you choose and the particular experiences you want to include. Remote lodges in Patagonia and premium estancias generally command higher rates, while traditional properties can offer excellent value.
If you have a higher budget, we will help you identify where luxury properties and premium experiences add real value. Options include exclusive estancias, private guides, helicopter explorations, and luxury cruises. A 15-night luxury trip can range from USD 15,000 to 18,000 per person.
If you have a medium budget, we can help manage costs through:
If you have a lower budget, we can focus on:
From the subtropical Iguazú Falls in the north to the ice fields of Patagonia in the south, from world-class wineries to extreme Andean deserts, Argentina offers remarkable diversity. It's around the country's edges where Argentina's most compelling experiences are found - whether tracking pumas in Patagonia, watching orcas hunt along Atlantic beaches, or riding with gauchos in the high Andes.
To visit all of Argentina's highlights would require 30-40 nights, so most visitors focus on two or three regions to experience them properly. The country works particularly well for both wildlife and adventure enthusiasts, featuring some of the continent's most reliable large predator sightings alongside outstanding hiking and riding opportunities.
Whether combining the glaciers of Patagonia with the vineyards of Mendoza, or the tropical falls of Iguazú with the marine life of Peninsula Valdés, Argentina rewards those who take time to explore its diverse regions.
When to visit Argentina
The optimal timing varies significantly between regions, requiring careful planning for multi-region trips:

Top locations in Argentina
Buenos Aires
Set in the northeast, Buenos Aires is both capital city and main transport hub. This sophisticated city rewards proper exploration, particularly for those interested in tango culture, gastronomy, and vibrant neighborhood life.
Some of Argentina's most characterful boutique hotels are found in historic Palermo and San Telmo districts, making the city worth more than just a transit stop.
While many visitors spend just a night or two, those who linger discover a rich cultural scene, from hidden milongas (tango halls) to world-class restaurants and vibrant art districts. The surrounding pampas also offer excellent day trips to traditional estancias.
Iguazú Falls
Straddling the Brazil border in the subtropical northeast, Iguazú Falls ranks among South America's great natural wonders. The 275 cascades thunder through rainforest inhabited by toucans, coatis, and occasionally jaguars.
Most visitors spend 2-3 nights, allowing time to explore both the Argentine and Brazilian sides, with a good range of hotels offering varying experiences. The Argentine side provides more intimate encounters with the falls via extensive walkway networks, while the Brazilian side offers panoramic views. Early morning and late afternoon visits avoid peak crowds and provide the best wildlife viewing opportunities.
Salta Region
Set in the far northwest corner, Salta offers an extraordinary range of landscapes from subtropical forests to high-altitude deserts. Best explored by private guided overland journey, the region combines Mediterranean-style wineries, remarkable geology, and extreme Andean scenery.
This lesser-visited area rewards those who spend time exploring its remote corners. The historic colonial city of Salta provides an excellent base, while the surrounding valleys offer everything from traditional handicraft markets to high-altitude vineyards producing some of the world's highest-grown wines.
Most visitors spend 7-8 nights exploring the region properly.

Argentina insider tips
Seasonal planning
The Oct-Apr summer season is optimal for most regions, particularly Patagonia. Consider shoulder seasons (Oct-Nov or Mar-Apr) for better conditions and fewer visitors.
Regional combinations
Strategic planning of internal flights can avoid backtracking through Buenos Aires. The north-south routing along the Andes is particularly efficient.
Altitude considerations
The northwest regions around Salta involve significant altitude changes. Careful scheduling between high and low areas ensures comfortable acclimatization.
Transport choices
Private transfers work best in most regions. The Salta area particularly benefits from guided overland journeys to experience its diverse landscapes.
Accommodation
Traditional estancias offer authentic experiences but vary significantly in comfort levels. Careful matching of properties to expectations is crucial.
Location timing
Wildlife events follow strict seasonal patterns, from Península Valdés' orca hunting to Patagonian puma viewing. Timing trips around these can transform experiences.
Argentina offers extraordinary variety across its vast geography. But maximizing your experience requires careful planning, particularly when combining its diverse regions. Drawing on years of operation in the country, we've developed deep insights into creating successful journeys through this remarkable land.

Los Glaciares
This dramatic southern national park showcases Patagonia at its finest, with towering peaks, vast glaciers, and pristine lakes. The area offers exceptional hiking and some of South America's most reliable puma sightings.
Remote estancias provide authentic bases for exploration, with most visitors spending 5-6 nights to properly experience the region. The park divides into two distinct areas: the northern sector around Mount Fitz Roy offers world-class hiking, while the southern sector features the impressive Perito Moreno Glacier.
The region can be combined effectively with Chilean Patagonia for extended adventures.
Península Valdés
Set on the Atlantic coast, this wildlife-rich peninsula is renowned for its marine life spectacles. Orcas beach themselves hunting seal pups, while enormous elephant seals battle on the shoreline.
Traditional estancias offer comfortable bases for exploration, with the best wildlife viewing between October and April. The peninsula's unique geography creates multiple distinct ecosystems, each hosting different species throughout the year. Southern right whales visit between June and December, while orca hunting peaks in March-April and October-December.
The area rewards patient wildlife enthusiasts with some of South America's most dramatic natural encounters.
